She's a Reader!

Gracie wrote this for me after school today... the only words that I helped her with were merry and round.  She has made amazing progress in the last few weeks in both reading and writing. Mrs. Bertel told us... "Congratulations ~ She's a Reader!"

Translated her sentences say... I am a girl with a doll.  I went to the park with my doll and I went on the merry go round.  Notice the use of periods and that she circled all of her sight words.  She also dotted her i's with stars... love that!

Peacock and Flying Fish

Gracie made these at the Long Island Childrens Museum.  We left them in New York with TT to remind her of our visit to New York.

Gracie's Green House

Grace made this green house at school this week.  It is filled with beans and  water soaked cotton balls.  We have it taped to our kitchen window so that we can watch it grow.

A-Z Book

Every week of the past school year has been dedicated to a different letter of the alphabet.  On the first day of each new week the Ranchers have been making a letter of the week page for their A-Z Books.  At Gracie's parent/teacher conference, her teacher gave me Gracie's A-Z book.  Here are a few of my favorite pages.

Butterflies

Gracie's class has been learning about Butterflies all week.  They have a butterfly farm in the classroom, and have been able to watch the process of the caterpillar turning into a butterfly.  The class released the real butterflies at the park today, but made these to bring home.

All About Gracie Mae Book

Each day in class for the next few weeks the Ranchers will be focusing in a different student.  Today was Gracie day.  The class made her this book and I just love it.  Here are a few of the pictures from the book.

Gracie and Mom

I especially loved the cute skirt that Gracie drew today for herself in this picture.  (Don't you just love this magnet... it was a gift from my litte sister.  I think the kids look just like mine.)

This is for you Mommy!

Gracie makes beautiful pictures for me everyday.  Recently I went through all of my old cards and gave her a handful.  She used these to make this picture for me.   It truly brightened my day!
